  1. I am happy that he is finally re-united with Grammabev and his long-lost bullhorn, calling down to people playing on the big beach in the sky. I miss you a lot.

  2. Poppabob,
You made it your mission to bring people together. You inspired and brought out the best in so many of us. Rest well, knowing the good you created in the world.
Fly low and slow… mission complete!

  3. There are very few people, in my opinion, who are both magnanimous (generous and forgiving) and erudite (having great learning or knowledge). As in most things, Papabob exceeded expectations. And in this way, he exhibited both a tremendous knowledge in most things, and a generous spirit.

These two traits were most present when interacting with his children and grandchildren. Papabob was incredibly invested in his family – as he would say, a family that now extends to (insert large number here) great grandchildren. He was insistent that if he could teach you a skill, he would. If he could impart a life-lesson, he would. If he could find a way to support a worthwhile pursuit, he would. And in the end he loved to tell anyone he encountered about his successful, amazing, talented and impressive family.

As a quick aside, an example of this behavior that stands out in my mind is a story that my mother has told me; as a teenager my mother owned a VW beatle, and as with many new things in life there were learning moments, one of which was that my mother seized her engine. Upon getting the car back to the house, she approached Papabob on what to do. He asked her, “how much money have you saved?” to which she replied, “$5” and he responded, “well, that’s enough to buy a book. But you can use my tools and garage.” Never one to leave his family unsupported but also unable to pass up a learning moment, this anecdote perfectly captures my opinion of Papabob; generous and knowledgable.

I can only hope and work to follow his example in this regard, and in that way honor the exemplary man, grandfather, father, husband, counselor and role model he was.

  4. Bob,
I miss you sooo much already looking at the goodie bag I made for you the other day for your girls to bring to you in your facility. Will keep it as is and think of you whenever I look at it. I’m so glad I took the time to stop by and say Hi the day I saw you outside your house. “Nice day, huh”…definitely, and that’s how our friendship started. You where one of the most fun, genuine, generous and interesting people I’ve ever met, especially at your age. But I’ll bet you had been as much fun etc if we met a long time ago. A small piece of my heart is broken tonight and looking at our text messages that i off course save, I cry and smile at the same time. So much I want to say but for right now, I think you are happy to see Beverly and Jr and don’t worry, and I’m sure you know we all take care of Blackjack and Photon for you. Thank you so much PapaBob for being my friend! So much more to be said but for right now, love you and miss you even more. I also got to know so many amazing people of your family which I appreciate a lot. Fly by one day and say Hi….Cissi and Speedy

  5. My son Mael and I will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to spend time with Bob. No one loved a family as much as Bob loved his. And what an extraordinary family indeed. “I am lucky he would say…” I always teased him that it was about a lot more than luck and the thing he was really lucky about was his beautiful white hair. We will miss hime dearly. Kay and Mael

  6. PoppaBob leaves behind an incredible legacy in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His values, strong character, and life lessons will long outlive his time here on earth, and I’m so grateful that this legacy will continue to keep his memory alive for all of us who will miss him dearly.

  7. Love it! I wish I would have known nr:42, the handshake…Made me smile big today so Thank You! Cissi

  8. For numerous years, Bob was an active member of the Laguna Beach Community. We served on the North Laguna Community Association board of directors together for several years and his voice was a voice of reason on so many fronts. He honored me as a military brat and even gave me some medals at an event where I was being honored. I do remember he and Bev together in their home and I loved all her clocks.. RIP Bob.

  9. I got to spend time with Bob & Beverly on several occasions. Everybody knows how Bob loved loved to share his experiences and show off his gadgets. I admired him for his contributions to his community & profession and for his ability to tell a story. Definitely a life worth celebrating.

  10. Despite the many, many people Poppa Bob invited into his home and his life, he always made me feel important and appreciated. The greatest lesson he taught me was to treat every moment like it was special, like it might become an epic story to tell one day. I think that was the magic PPB and Gramma Bev created together, that even the ordinary happenings of life can become legendary tales if you pay attention to them and share them with those you love. It was like being in on a big secret of how to get the most joy out of life. I promise to to try my best to keep this part of Poppa Bob alive in my life.

  11. Poppa Bob, thanks to you and Grammer Bev for making me and my family always feel welcome, like we are a part of your family. You and Grammer Bev were so devoted to family. I could tell how proud you were and the joy you had in sharing life with them. And, for good reason. You and Grammer Bev have a wonderful family. You were so kind, fun, caring, and again, extremely welcoming. I and I’m sure many others have similar fond memories and appreciation of your friendship. I’ll miss you.
